Władysław Żeleński, Romance, Dance fantastique
for violin and piano, PWM 12812
Pieces displaying showmanship and undeniable artistic merit. Romance in G major has a lyrical character and a singsong melody. Danse fantastique on the other hand is exuberant and virtuosic. The refrain that recurs here, which could be seen as an allusion to an operetta gallop or even a cancan, undergoes variation changes in the course of the piece, and its melody is heard in both the violin and piano parts.
