Karol Kurpiński, Polonaises book 1

for piano, PWM 12295

This publication contains three polonaises (G major, D minor, G minor). These pieces are a worthy representation of the polonaise genre fashionable in the 18th and 19th centuries. They were written in a classical style, but with some romantic touches. In them, the composer combined graceful melodicism with brillant-style figurations. The polonaises included in the publication have been provided with an appliqué adapted to suit a medium-sized hand. The pieces can be incorporated into the training of young pianists, but can also provide interpretive challenges for mature musicians.
